Michiko Muramatu worked
in the office of a major company before marrying, when she gave up work
to become a full time housewife and the mother of two boys. She now works
part-time for an insurance company. In 1992 she suddenly walked on to a
university campus and spent a year as a mature student in the department
of Art and Design. This was very unusual in Japan at the time, especially
in a remote area with a more traditional lifestyle. We all admired her courage,
and looked with great interest at many of the drawings she produced during
the course.
Since 1994 she has been working on the same theme: 'Karamu' (intertwining),
and exploring its possibilities. |
